Nov 5, 2024 #Politics, #Relief

A $572 million aid package has been announced by USAID to address the ongoing crises in the Lake Chad Basin and Sahel. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) attended a donors’ meeting when the financing was announced. It aims to address the various issues that the civilian population in the region faces, such as food shortages, displacement, and violence.
