The purpose of this research is to determine the most important strategies employed by smallholder farmers in the Sahelian area of Burkina Faso to mitigate the effects of periodic droughts and to comprehend the elements influencing their adaptive decisions. The investigation was conducted in the Sahelian region of northern Burkina Faso. The study focused on the Sahel area of Burkina Faso because to its sparse rainfall and frequent droughts. Smallholder farmers, comprising crop producers and agro-pastoralists, as well as pastoralist communities in the chosen villages whose primary source of income was rainfall, were the research’s intended study populations.
