At the 5th Ministerial Meeting of the Desert to Power Initiative, which is coordinated by the African Development Bank, energy ministers from six Sahelian nations significantly accelerated the development of sustainable energy by approving two important strategic agreements. Private investment in large-scale solar and mini-grid projects in the area is expected to increase as a result of the authorized Independent Power Producers (IPP) Common Protocol and Green Mini-Grid Strategy. The IPP Common Protocol was created in partnership with the African Legal Support Facility and the Desert to Power Taskforce with the goals of standardizing procedures, cutting down on delays, and increasing the effect of projects run by independent power producers.
