World Food Programme’s Sahel Climate Catastrophe Layer (UNDRR)

May 17, 2025 #Environment, #Nutrition

In order to offer financial protection against extreme droughts, the World Food Programme (WFP) launched a regional Sahel Climate Catastrophe Layer (SCCL) in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. Launched during the West Africa growing season of 2024–2025, the initiative supplemented current national-level risk finance methods and provided coverage for the most severe regional drought situations.
