Support urgently needed to avert a deeper Sahel crisis, UNHCR’s protection chief warns (UNHCR)

The region has enormous challenges. The consequences of climate change are causing new acute strains in addition to the numerous wars, growing costs, and declining humanitarian aid. Approximately 4.8 million individuals in the Sahel region have had to leave their homes in search of safety in other places.
