Precipitation over the center of the Sahel region is projected to increase in the short and intermediate term, while the western Sahel will see some level of decrease, due to the effects of global warming. This, however, will happen unevenly, leading to temporal changes. In response, both fast and slow measures need to be implemented. Within the coming decades, the fast response ought to bear the most manifest effects.
