It Is Time to Rethink U.S. Strategy in the Sahel (United States Institute of Peace)

To reach the development goals, the situation needs to be improved with regard to economic opportunities, marginalization of vulnerable communities and “dependence on foreign support.” Biodiversity needs to be fostered, “entrepreneurial capacity” needs to be increased. This could bear chances to transform the region with a view on the issue of climate change and development, thus rendering the region’s characteristics more sustainable.
