In order to swiftly respond to climate shocks and disasters, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, and Senegal are assisted by the Sahel Adaptive Social Protection Program (SASPP) in creating adaptive social protection systems. By enabling governments to provide quick aid, enhance readiness for disasters, and assist disadvantaged households in adjusting to shifting circumstances, the program increases resilience. In addition to providing crisis relief to over 1.2 million people and registering over 4.2 million people in social registries, the project has benefited over 103,000 people, the majority of whom are women, through economic inclusion initiatives that increase social stability and income security. SASPP, which is backed by international partners including the World Bank and Germany, shows how well-coordinated social protection may improve crisis response and resilience throughout the Sahel.
