UNDP, in collaboration with the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), Liptako-Gourma Authority (LGA), African Union Commission (AUC), Climate Commission for the Sahel Region (CCRS), and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), gathered regional experts and policymakers in La Somone, Senegal, and New York, USA, to discuss how climate, peace, and security (CPS) approaches can support ongoing stabilization efforts. Over 250 stakeholders participated in these talks, and the study ‘Climate, Peace and Security in Stabilization Contexts in the Sahel’ summarizes the most important takeaways. It describes how conflict dynamics, displacement, and livelihood issues interact with climate-related threats like droughts, floods, and land degradation, and it highlights chances to create integrated solutions that foster social cohesion and resilience.
