The Alliance of Agricultural Seed Producers of the Sahel (APSA-Sahel) was established in July 2025 by Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger with the goal of strengthening regional food sovereignty and lowering dependency on imported seeds. This program encourages regionally adapted, climate-resilient seed systems and makes it easier for member nations to exchange seeds across borders. APSA-Sahel represents a large economic movement within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) toward economic independence. In the face of mounting geopolitical and climate pressures, the alliance seeks to empower regional farmers and improve agricultural resilience.
