The current study explores the interplay between environmental and climate change and migration in the Sahel, with a focus on Mali and Sudan. It examines perceptions of climate-induced mobility, the specific needs of vulnerable populations, and the adaptive strategies employed in response to climate stressors. Migration is analyzed as both a coping mechanism and a constrained choice shaped by structural vulnerabilities. The research offers policy recommendations for governments, humanitarian actors, and donors, emphasizing the integration of climate mobility into legal frameworks, the provision of route-based assistance, and the reinforcement of community resilience through locally-led adaptation and early warning systems.
