Leading experts who studied, questioned, and evaluated new trends, opportunities, difficulties, and lessons learned about Sahelian governance produced the current study after intensive discussions, interactions, and research. The first issue’s theme, “(Re)building social cohesion and public trust,” was formed out of a shared understanding and acceptance that governance deficiencies are at the core of the ongoing problem. Extremism, crime, instability, military takeovers, and mass protests have all increased as a result.
