WFP’s foundation for aiding vulnerable communities impacted by the Sahelian crisis is this sub-regional approach. It helps governments build resilience in northern communities affected by refugee arrivals and spillover consequences. By providing an evidence-based, people-centered response to anticipated humanitarian needs, implementing programs that lower food insecurity and malnutrition by bolstering national institutions, and fostering community resilience, self-reliance, and social cohesion, the plan seeks to transition from emergency relief to a resilience-focused approach.
