Key concepts and elements for successfully managing and avoiding conflict connected to climate change will be identified by a new research initiative. The research looks at how environmental degradation and climate change affect regional stability, with a particular focus on the Lake Chad Basin and the Regional Strategy for Stabilization, Recovery, and Resilience (RS-SRR). The findings will help guide larger peace and security initiatives in other regions impacted by climate change, especially in the West African Sahel, where resource instability and displacement have increased due to violent conflict and harsh weather.
