The most accurate method, according to the current study, was MSAVI with point-to-point modeling, which evaluated desertification in the Sahel from 2000 to 2020 using MODIS data (86.78%). The findings indicate that whereas mild to severe instances increased northward, extreme desertification generally decreased. Precipitation emerged as the most significant driver in these regions, which were extremely vulnerable to both human activity and climatic instability. Results point to the need for more focused approaches to controlling desertification.
