Warpod debates on whether no intervention might be superior to the existing operations in the Sahel, in collaboration with the Project for the Study of the 21st Century (PS21). Ornella Moderan, Head of the Sahel Program at the Institute for Security Studies in Bamako, and Nina Wilen, Africa Director at the Egmont Institute in Brussels, join Abigail Watson and Delina Goxho. They talk about recent events in the area, such as the attempted coup in Niger, the “double coup” in Mali, and the killing of President Déby in Chad. They also think about how the various international players in the area, such as the UK, France, the EU, and the UN, ought to alter their strategy.
