UNICRI has developed a tool tailored for Mauritania to help stakeholders incorporate climate, environmental, and conflict sensitivity into strategies to prevent violent extremism. Developed through workshops in Dakar and Nouakchott, this tool provides a step-by-step guide to assess risks at the nexus of climate security and violent extremism, enabling sustainable, conflict-sensitive interventions. It emphasizes local ownership, collaboration with affected communities, and inclusion of gender and youth, addressing vulnerabilities of women, youth, and marginalized groups to create resilient and effective strategies.
