Adolescent girls’ needs will necessitate a significant institutional and communal rethinking of our working practices and our approaches to investing in their present and future. A recent UNICEF study on teenage girls’ resilience building emphasizes the experiences of girls and their communities in the Sahel area on October 11, International Day of the Girl. UNICEF’s Regional Adviser for Adolescent Development in West and Central Africa, Shelly Abdool, provides an explainer of the study. She is one of the authors of the report.
