In addition to guiding the required transformation of the livestock industry in West Africa, pastoral systems must be protected for their distinctive environment, social function, and economic contribution to the stability of the Sahel. Significant financial and technical assistance from governments, the corporate sector, and development partners will be necessary to achieve these lofty objectives. For investments to be effective and sustainable, they must be specifically designed to address the requirements of pastoral communities. Stakeholder cooperation will remain essential to carrying out the updated action plan. In the Sahel and West Africa today, pastoralism is a vital component of stability and resilience. The advancements of the last ten years offer a strong basis for addressing new issues and generating fresh chances for the communities.
