The Sahel’s problems are becoming more complicated, and the region is receiving exponentially more attention from across the world. European nations must examine their current policies, which are frequently insufficiently tailored to regional difficulties, and abandon a strategy that prioritizes threat containment above structural issues. A reset in ties between Europe and the Sahel is desperately needed, given the complexity of the current situation—the whole security infrastructure, which was dependent on outside assistance and was constructed over the previous ten years, crumbled in the last year. With the tacit support of the European Union and NATO, France, Italy, and Spain are well-known in the area and may cooperate to coordinate agendas. Simultaneously, the European Union and NATO might benefit from the possible concerted endeavor of these three nations to align their regional objectives, therefore decreasing intra-European power conflicts and enhancing effectiveness.
