The UNDP has made great progress toward fulfilling our promise of a regenerated Sahel, led by three main pillars of youth, renewable energy, and governance. Pilot sites for stabilization have been established, with an emphasis on the Liptako Gourma region and the Lake Chad Basin (LCB). Through close collaboration with implementing partners like the Liptako Gourma Authority and the Lake Chad Basin Commission, the UNDP has strengthened state presence, improved livelihoods for Sahelian populations, and promoted community stability. Only in these kinds of cooperative alliances can our work actually have an impact. Recognizing that women and young people are essential change agents, we have concentrated on empowering women economically, encouraging youth entrepreneurship, and advancing deradicalization.
