“Years of international military interventions have caused the Sahel to be more unstable and insecure now than a decade ago. In this report we speak with people living in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso to see what needs to happen to reduce violence and insecurity in the central Sahel. Through interviews with community members and civil society leaders, we listened to peoples’ perspectives on what security means to them, how international interventions impact their lives, and how they work to address violence and insecurity in their communities. In this report we also provide recommendations for policymakers, decision makers, and EU institutions and other international bodies engaged in military interventions.”
